Bing search box added, plus a few additions to the right menu.

Thursday, 4th June, 2009

On June 1st Microsoft made it's new "Bing" search engine publicly available, the site's currently only in Beta but appears to work rather well and should provide a strong competitor to Goggle. I've added a search box above to provide quick access straight from this home page. Alternatively, click the image below to jump straight to the site:

I've also updated the menu to the right with a few more sites, Transport Direct amongst other features provides concise up to date traffic information, and Twitter seems to be taking the net by storm. I've also added speedtest.net which provides a great way to find out if your broadband's actually as fast as it claims.

A few new shops have also been added, including "Wiggle" - One of the best online bicycle suppliers. A few other shops had broken links which have also now been fixed. As always, if you have any suggestions, notice any bugs, or can recommend a shop please contact me via the form at the bottom of the About page.

More friendly appearance, plus shopping navigation improved.

Sunday, 26 April, 2009

I've given the site a slight design change to hopefully make navigation easier and more friendly. The shopping section now features small pictures which should help assist in quickly locating the required category. The sites still based around my previous code so should still load in a relatively short amount of time.

The applications section of my site will also be coming along in the near future. So far, I've a list of approximately 30+ freely available applications for all purposes, anything from Office based productivity tools, Photo editing tools, to system utilities will be listed. There's many other sites on the web that list a huge number of free applications but they often feature far too many to know which are the best for each purpose. My aim is to list my favorite application plus maybe one extra for each purpose, with any luck this section will be up and working by early summer.

New navigation links and several tech shop categories updated

Monday, 05 January, 2009

Several improvements have been made since yesterday's upload. There's a new navigation link pane to the right of this blog, hopefully you'll find them useful. I've also gone through several of the Technology categories and removed shops that no longer trade and added a few replacements. Finally the shop rating system has changed, shops I'd highly recommend now feature Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards.

More updates to follow shortly.

Website rebuilt to increase speed

Sunday, 04 January, 2009

My previous site took quite a bit of time to create and getting it looking right and working correctly wasn't all that easy. Unfortunately I never got around to finishing it, not only due to a lack of time but also a lack of enthusiasm as I wasn't entirely convinced I liked the site.

From a visual perspective I think the site looked great, but the number of images and the large size of some, meant it took quite a bit of time to load and render the site. Based on the stats a large number of other uses have since moved away from using the site and I've noticed I also now use a different homepage which made the site pointless!

After much deliberation I've decided to go back to basics, forget the great looks and fancy photography, I'll leave that to the gallery section. Instead hopefully you'll find this site a lot quicker, more useful and with any luck I'll attract a few lost visitors back. So, expect very few pictures and hopefully very fast loading, any problems please visit the about page and send me a comment.

Enjoy ;-)
